Tonight's 2020 CPC Leadership - Great B.C. Debate!

Fellow Conservatives,

It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in a leadership debate!

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Crisis, the debate will be digital and will be hosted via Zoom. Although this debate has the approval of the CPC, it is strictly a grassroots initiative; Along with our moderator, this event is intended to include all 4 Verified CPC Leadership Candidates.

Please note, Leslyn Lewis, Erin O'Toole and Derek Sloan have all accepted the invitation to participate in a B.C. Debate.

Peter MacKay has declined our invitation to the B.C. Debate.

This debate is hosted by the Vancouver Centre Conservative Association on behalf of all 42 Electoral District Associations across the province of British Columbia. We have consulted with every riding in our province to identify the top eight issues they would like to see the candidates discuss.

The debate will be broken into two periods. For the first period, to encourage substantive, specific replies over sloganeering on niche B.C. issues, we've chosen to provide all participants with the exact wording of the questions, in advance. There will be eight topics with specific questions coming from a broad grassroots consultation of all 42 BC EDAs:

  1. The Environment
  2. Coastal Resource Management
  3. B.C. Logging Industry
  4. Indigenous Affairs
  5. Affordable Housing
  6. Money Laundering
  7. Community Outreach
  8. Freedom of Expression

For the second period of the debate, candidates will have a one-on-one period where they will have the opportunity to ask each other questions. This is essentially a free-for-all, where the candidates are unaware of what questions they may be asked.

Our moderator is Jordan Bateman. Mr. Bateman is a fully-recovered and fully-reformed politician, having left his role as a Langley Township Councillor in 2011 to become the Canadian Taxpayers Federation’s BC Director. In 2017, he joined the Independent Contractors and Businesses Association as ICBA’s VP-Communications, where he continues his advocacy for a strong, market-driven economy.

This is a digital debate, so anyone from anywhere in the province can participate live! Furthermore, anyone from across the country can also view the debate.

The debate begins July 8th, 6 PM Pacific Time.

Our event will be structured in the English language.
